It ran a little slow for me - and a bit predictable at first. The author ramped up as he got into his story though and I was cooking right along fine. He doesn't seem to know what type of book he's actually trying to write though. He seemed to feel that a romantic streak was a necessity...but he really doesn't write romance well...and tried to cobble together a relationship in a couple of chapters without really understanding WHAT the relationship or its purpose was...and that hurt his ending big time. The 'nasty goonies' are either VERY nasty or you aren't really sure....This is about a religious icon...but religion and the Church don't quite seem to be involved here for some reason. It just seemed a bit improbable all the way around. And then the ending....felt a lot like the author just didn't know where else to go with the story so....ended it. Don't think I'd re-read it.Product details

The Resurrection Maker edition by Glenn Cooper Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Glenn Cooper is a master story teller, and this novel proves it once again. It is a page turner with twists and turns in the story, that the reader doesn't see coming. The search for ancient artifacts, the history surrounding these amazing pieces, and the people about whom the novel is written adds depth to the story. This is a great mystery, and is well written. I, personally, can't wait for Glenn Cooper's next book.
I realize this book has excellent ratings so my 3 stars may seem odd. Perhaps one of the reasons my review is lower (what I would term average) is because I had higher expectations. I think the premise of the book is interesting- the hunt for the Grail. But, my problem was the execution. The dialog was a bit formulaic and robotic, character development was minimal and the ending was simply a dud versus the climax I was hoping for. With all of that being said, it was an ok read but far below what it could have been.
This was a great read. It held my interest from the very beginning, it was similar to the Da Vinci Code but the further it went the more it deviated. Some of it was pretty predictable and I would have rated it higher had the ending been different - or if it had actually had one! As it is, it just rather leaves one hanging. Plus it also got to the point that it was really fairly unbelievable. Too bad, because I really liked his writing. He's great and I would like to read more by him.
I really enjoyed this book - until the last paragraph. It is one of those books that the reader decides the ending. Unfortunately, I do not like to do that. I expect the author to tie up the loose ends, not me. I will forever wonder 'who came back.' I hope there is a sequel that will clear this enigma up, but the book did not say it was a series and the author's note gave no hint of one. It is like reading an entire book, only to find the last page gone and the book is out of print. Maybe, Mr Cooper could not decide on a ending himself and never finished the book.
I enjoyed reading the book as it was the first time, that I had read a book dealing with any part of the history of religious houses in Spain, and the use of architects as part of a secret society. The hero was very trusting throughout the book and I felt a bit sorry for him. There was the use of scenes which were recently revealed in the visit of Pope Francis to Israel, so there was some credibility in the information which was written about. I am not sure that I bought into all of the concepts which were covered in the book, especially the ability to touch the Grail, since I imagine that is the object which was carried in the Ark of the Covenant and could not be touched. The use of the Grail as it is captured in the book was a bit incredulous due to all of the "touching" which previously occurred. I was grateful that I had received the book for free so I did not feel that it was not money well spent. The fact that I read the book over Easter may have explained my state of mind.
Fascinating, intriguing page-turner. This story continues the saga of the Grail, like those who search for it. The myth has more substance in this narrative. The forces of good and evil clamouring over a venerated object. Worth reading.
Highly recommended and should evoke interest especially from Christians. Old theories challenging the Resurrection emerge, but not as alternative theories, rather as irrelevant. The characters are believable and the untimely deaths a reminder of our mortality making the powers of the Grail more realistic. However, that also detracts from the story.
Still, a worthwhile read.
I received this book free from one of the book sites. I do not remember which one! This is my honest review.
Tales of the Holy Grail have been around for thousands of years. Imagine being related to one whom legend has said beheld the grail itself. Now take everything you do not know about physics & add this to the tales. Take the winding journey to first find Excalibur from King Arthur and follow Arthur and Claire as they unearth clues about this sought after relic.
I found it difficult to understand the physics, but this did not hamper my enjoyment.
